| Donnie is a big, elegant horse, kind and smart. He moves spectacularly and has wonderful form over fences, due in part to his sloping shoulder and powerful hind end. He tends to pass his lovely, refined head on to his youngsters, as well as his terrific movement and jumping ability. As with Apollo's Fire, he was placed in stud before he could have a show career, due to the untimely death of his sire, Oklahoma Bound. His dam, Katherine Swynford, carries quite a bit of French thoroughbred lines known for their jumping talent in her pedigree, the sire lines of Swaps and *My Babu, and the highly-prized mare lines of Grey Flight and Cosmah. Donnie's first crop of youngsters are foals of 1997, and are just starting their show careers, with Hollywood Bound (a.k.a. Conrad, out of ASF Consiva) reserve baby green hunter champion at the December (2003) Winter Show at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. |
